I have to write a paper for biology class about how we killed drosophila melanogaster

Better known as common fruit fly or vinegar fly.

Wait, whut? Let me explain.

We put them in a bottle and let them mate until they had a zillion little fly babies which we had to count and see how their phenotypes come in expression, according to their genotypes. We let homozygous recessive flies mate with homozygous dominant flies so the genotypes get mixed up so many sorts of phenotypes get into expression, if you know what I mean. Especially after two generations, which we had done so yeah.

Anyway, it was an experiment and when we tried to arrange and sort them, we had to drug them so they couldn’t move. But if you would give them too much of the drug, they would die. And you had to move them with a brush whilst sorting. Now and then we brushed a little bit too rough, and they died. The number of deaths was pretty low, though, comparing to others…

The experiment itself was fun, but now we have to write down a massive load of words and diagrams about it.

Now you know. I do feel pretty smart now.
